Suzuki is working on a two wheel drive scooter for which the company has filed a patent with US patent and Trademark office. The sketches can be seen to bear strong resemblance to the Suzuki Bergman with a new front fond.
The electric motor is positioned to the gas powered rear wheel making this a hybrid powered rear wheel making this a hybrid powered two wheeler. Front wheel is mounted to a swing arm with a non conventional font end suspension design. The rear engine is mounted on the body or integrated into the swingarm.
Suzuki could apply this patent to a number of its motorcycle and scooter designs slated to be produced besides those already in the company line up. Power and weight distribution would have to be taken into consideration if the electric motor is positioned in the front. As on date , Suzuki Bergman 200 receives a 200 cc liquid cooled,fuel injected ,single cylinder engine offering 18ps peak power at 8,000 rpm and 17 Nm torque at 6,000 rpmmated to a CVT it has a price tag of €4,199.
Suzuki Bergman measures 2,265 mm in length ,810 mm in width and sits on a 1,585 mm long wheelbase .It possesses 125 mm of ground clearance and 755 mm of seat height while kerb weight stands at 278 kg . Fuel tank capacity stands at 15 litres.
The board features include an electronically adjustable windscreen , power folding rear mirrors and heated handle bar grips along with heated seats. special lumbar support for rider and back- rest for pillion rider were also evident on the model on test while an under seat storage with 50- litre capacity was ample to fit in two full - sized helmets.
If launched in India, competition to the Burgman 650 will be from upcoming Peugeot moto- scooters, which Machines plans to introduce next year.
